THE WEDDING OF DOUGLAS & JEFFERY

The Wedding of Douglas & Jeffery

It’s a dark, cold, snowy-wet and, sadly, depressing Monday morning here in the great city of Toronto.

Although it’s only been two days since Jeffery and Doug’s magnificent fairy-tale wedding, all of us who attended that truly magical evening must all be feeling the exact same way; a little out of sorts.

This must be how Cinderella felt on the Monday morning following the huge Saturday Evening Ball held by the illustrious Prince of the Castle; after her glittery coach turned back into a pumpkin and her dazzling gown reverted back to its dirty, ragged home dress. And especially after the bleak reality of her dingy little life descended once again upon her like a thick, impenetrable fog.
How on earth does one continue on in the shadow of such a grand and luxurious event?

Jeffery & Doug’s wedding defies description.

For a few brief hours, all 300+ of us who were there were treated to not only the most lavish and opulent wedding of all time, but to a most spectacular theatrical event imaginable. And it was all percolated through the creative vision of Jeffery himself.

It was breathtaking!

How often does one attend a wedding where the thousands of white tulips garnishing the entire venue are flown in directly from Thailand? Where the plush interior of the great hall is draped in pristine white, and even the dance floor was surfaced in a brilliant, shiny white with the now famous J & D logo imprinted upon it?

This must have been what Cinderella experienced.

And it’s not often when wedding guests are wowed off their feet by a dazzling and thunderously loud Dragon Dance, accompanied by concussive live musicians, with the red and white dragons weaving in and out between the illustrious couple like some mythical creation fantasy. It was, to say the least, fucking awesome!

But what set the stage for the entire evening were the moments just before Jeffery made his spectacular entrance.

The groom, the wedding party and family members had all paraded majestically down the centre aisle and taken their place on the podium, each slowly turning around to face the white shrouded cocoon at the end of the room from whence they had all just emerged. We all knew what they were waiting for, just as we, the audience, knew too, and we all held our breath in a strangled anticipation. And as each heavy moment ticked past and the tension grew, as the music swelled and soared upwards, climbing ever so slowly towards the exciting crescendo, each and every one of us could feel their heart pound forcefully in their chest. Mesmerizing is too small a word to describe what all of us experienced at that moment in time. With every pair of eyes in the room transfixed on the white fabric at the back of the cocoon, not a blink or a twitch of the eye befell a single guest, not a single one of us wavered for even a split second.

We waited and we watched like hawks…

And then it parted and Jeffery was standing there, august in his white tuxedo, looking more like a Superhero than a man about to be married.

The room erupted as every single person leapt to their feet and cheered. There was not a dry eye in the house!

From that point on, everything just kept getting better and better.

The Wedding of Jeffery and Doug happened exactly on the 10th anniversary of their meeting. And what better way to celebrate a decade of being together than this? And even after 10 years as a couple, the palpable love between Jeffery and Doug was so obvious and apparent that it was mirrored by everyone in the room.

Here are a few of the amazing images from Jeffery and Doug’s engagement shoot.

Here is to Jeffery and Doug, forever towards the future!
